It’s true that we are very bummed about there being no fireworks visible from the LIC waterfront (for the second year in a row) but we are happy to report that music events are here to save the day! There are cool shows you can catch all weekend right here in the hood!

LIC BAR makes room in its SUMMER SERIES for a special 4th of July Celebration put on by ASTORIA MUSIC & ARTS. Five local bands take the outdoor stage: THE MIDDLEMEN, BLIMINAL, THE JAMIES, TIBETAN PUNKS, and THE INVISIBLE KID. The BBQ grill will be open and there is an awesome happy hour 4-7pm. Rumor has it that there may be live video streaming too…!
MONDAY, JULY 5th
*The D.J.’s Danny Krivit, Jellybean Benitez and Tony Smith will get the Long Island City Water Taxi Beach Independence Day Celebration starts at 1 p.m. There will be soul and funk tunes from Mr. Krivit’s “718 Sessions” and “Body and Soul” mixed CDs, along with music from Mr. Benitez’s “Jellybean Soul” and Mr. Smith’s “Legendary.” The first 100 people to enter before 2 p.m. pay $5; after 2 p.m. it’s $15 with a flier (available at dannykrivit.net or watertaxibeach.com/long_island_city) or with an R.S.V.P. at facebook.com/dannykrivit; $20 without.
